Hurricanes in Missouri

First off, I've been gone for awhile but it's good to be back.

You know what's bad about hurricanes in missouri. They're probably only here to play football every once in a blue moon. Most of you know I'm from New Orleans, so I'm paying a fair amount of attention to Ms. Katrina. You know, the young lady about to wreak all kinds of holy hell on my home town (by the way, why the hell do they give these things human names? I think hurricane 112005 sounds a little less personable than Katrina.Katrina sounds like someone I would date, but that's neither here nor there.)

There is something special about hurricanes. It's one of the only natural disasters that you have time to get pumped up about. I've been through a few of them. The exileration you feel when one approaches is amazing. The thought of the destruction it could cause makes you think and realize how precious life truly is. But I think it is exiting because of the devistation. Going out, getting supplies, talking to your neighbors about the impending doom, checking with family, making sure everyone's ok...it's all a part of the exitement.

My family is scattered now. My immediates are on Baton Rouge, others made it to Houston. I would give anything to be with them now and might be anyway. For those of you who have not lived through this, be glad that you don't have to deal with. But you still are missing out on something special. Maybe Katrina will bring me home. Maybe Katrina will bring together a city moving nowhere. There can be some good from such bad.
